BUND, Themenheft "Bauen und Renovieren"

One should have high expectations

for children's furniture

Sleep - play - learn, this is how children use their room in the first six to eight years of their life. Children up to the age of six spend apporximately 15 000 hours playing and most of the time in the children's room. As they grow up it is necessary to adjust furnitures so that the furniture suits their age and needs. When a baby come into this world it is important to provide an environment for their healthy development. Small children need to be protected from harmful influences to grow up freely.

Therefore it is important to have children's furnitures that does not cause harmful substanses.

We have the tendency to rush into buying colourful, pleasant  and cheap furnitures. But it often happends that after a while you get disappointed with the quality and creativity of the product. Also the these furnitures are made of chip board and covered with varnish, flame resistant or other artificial coating that produces harmful substances. Our body takes in these substances constantly but the effect they have on our body is only recongnised later on.

Pure wooden furnitre with untreated and natural surface contain less harmful substances. But it is easier to make scratches on the surface. So take a sand paper and simply sand off the surface from time to time for cleaning. Then the furniture will be as good as new! For this sort of cleaning you don't need special knowledge and the furniture will last for a long time for your children.

Children have accidents while using bunk beds just because most manufacturers fail to attach guard rails that are high enough for their bed. The children's furniture manufacturer Woodland (http://www.woodland.de) managed to produce adventure beds with ideal measurement, which exceeds the European standard. The wide range of WOODLAND adventure beds can be found directly on the internet web site.

It's possible to achieve fun and safe environment for children. This is proved by WOODLAND "grow together" models from fun bunk beds with slide to a teenage bed  with multimedia PC. WOODLAND values quality of the wood and accident prevention system. Typical bunk bed accidents occur because most manufacturers install low guard rails, which the children could easily tremble over the guard rail. WOODLAND on the other hand set up guard rails that are 70 cm high, more than double the European standard, to prevent standing children falling over the edge. This guard rail can be however reduced to half of its height to adjust to growing children.

Significant influence on stability of adventure bed depends on the strength of beams and number of contact surfaces where the beams come together. Woodland therefore decided to use a robust beam with thickness that no other manufacturers offer: 58 x 58 Millimetre. All edges of the beams are rounded off and slatted mattress frames are sturdy and hard-wearing. For these reasons WOODLAND beds are durable and can be used for a long time.

Those who wish to have a children's room where they could really have fun in a secure environment, you should get information about WOODLAND products (www.woodland.de) and accident prevention methods from the internet. With guard rails that far exceed the European standard active children could have fun on the WOODLAND adventure bed without risk!
